In The Beginning
1 Million Cups had a strong base of followers but lacked consistent content distribution. In addition, Facebook and Twitter were not be leveraged to their full potential. Integrating the use of hashtags on Twitter helped draw in new followers and distribute the content to a broader audience. The key was in identifying the hashtags that would be effective for 1 Million Cups. We built new content by attending the weekly 1 Million Cups presentations and interviewing attendees on what they were getting from participating.
How It Happened
Through our existing relationship with SBDC Daytona, we recommended a social media program to boost the awareness for the SBDC using 1 Million Cups and vice versa. Since both programs are targeted at assisting entrepreneurs and business owners this enabled us to cross-promote activities and draw attention to both resources. The results have shown more people are engaging with both programs to grow their ideas and existing businesses.
